In Georgia, the Board of Nursing oversees practicing nurses but not only.

Getting Approval to Take the NCLEX

Becoming a nurse is possible only if you pass the NCLEX.

The NCLEX is an exam not only recognized in the US but also in Canada and Australia.

This exam for future nurses is organized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, through Pearson Vue.

There are a series of steps one must take to ensure they can take this licensing test.

These include:

  • Graduate from a training program
  • Sign up with Pearson Vue
  • Pay the fees
  • Apply for the license
  • Fill out the online application
  • Have a clean criminal record

If you obtained your license in a different state, you already passed the NCLEX.

In this case, you need to obtain your Georgia nurse license through endorsement.

Renewing Your License

The nursing personnel that needs to renew their licenses must complete some hours of continuing education.

This is a nationwide requirement.

In Georgia, individuals must use the CE Broker to keep track of the completed hours.

This is a different site than that of the Board and requires you to create an account.

There are no charges in this regard.

The CE Broker website is used by the Board for audits regarding this aspect.

There are many providers of continuing education classes, with some being free of charge, while others do charge a fee.

License renewal includes paying the renewal fee online.

For all of these actions, you’ll need to create an account on the site of the Board.

Once you meet all the renewal credentials, you can print the new license.

Individuals also have the option to renew their licenses in an old-fashion way, by calling 478-207-2440.

You’ll receive the application form by mail, but this process can last up to a month and you risk having to pay more.

You can also try this link for the same purpose: https://gcmb.mylicense.com/verification.

On this site, you have the option to look up the licenses of either individuals or companies.

  • The license name

Additionally, you’ll also have to prove you’re not a robot.

When looking up the license of a facility, you’ll need:

  • The name of the facility
  • The license number
  • The license type
  • The license status

  • The state

Here too, you must prove you’re a human.

It’s possible not to know or be certain of the full name of a person or facility.

You can use an “*” sign after the first few letters that can be common for more names.

This page has a link to file a complaint as well.

    Hello,
My name is Sherri Lea Coffey. I have held a Georgia RN160906 license since 2002. I have been a nurse in good standing since 1987. On my renewal application, I accidently checked that I am not a citizen. A mistake on my part. I was born and raised in Fergus Falls,MN. on Sept 28, 1961. I have emailed the board twice regarding this situation, but I have not received a response. My Georgia license expires in Janurary 2023. please advise.
