CNA Classes in Arkansas

If you want to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Arkansas, keep reading to find out more information.

In Arkansas, the Office of Long-Term Care (OLTC) regulates the procedure and certification.

To be placed in the nursing registry, you have to attend a training program and to pass the final exam.

Training Requirements

To become a CNA in Arkansas, you have to attend the state-approved training.

Search online for the list of state-approved program and bear in mind that each program lasts for at least 90 hours.

If you have completed a program in another state, you can still take the final exam, but only if your program is equivalent to the Arkansas and federal standards.

Those who completed an Alternative Healthcare Training also qualify for the certificate.

Some other candidates may be allowed to take the test if they have completed other healthcare programs if they submit the required documents.

Final Test

In Arkansas, aspiring CNAs are asked to pass the Nursing Assistant Competency Exam (NACE).

The NACE has two sections – theory check and the skills demonstration.

You can take the theory test in a written or oral format.

During the practical skills test, you will have to perform some of the CNA duties.

It can include changing the linens with a person in bed, taking measurements, assisting someone with difficulties in walking, etc.

You will be performing the skills with a resident actor and not an actual patient.

Candidates have three attempts to pass the test.

Those who fail will get the feedback which will help them to pass the test next time.

The deadline to pass the test is one year after completing the training program.

Application

The application process depends on your eligibility route.

But, most candidates will be asked to submit all application forms and documents to Prometric.

To get your eligibility screening, you have to pay $10.

The test fee for the clinical skills is $45, and the knowledge test will cost you $34.
