Training Requirements
Aspiring CNAs in Delaware, must take the educational program approved by DLTCRP.
The list of available and approved educational programs is available on the DLTCRP and Prometric website.
Any approved program must last at least 150 hours.
The minimal duration of clinical training is 75 hours and the same is with the classroom preparations.
Also, RNs and LPNs can take the exam without attending the course.
Nursing students who completed a training program which includes at least 75 hours of practical clinical training are eligible to take the exam as well.
The deadline for taking the exam is two years after the program ends.
Final Test
In Delaware, aspiring CNA must take the Delaware Certified Nursing Assistant Competency Exam.
The exam has two parts – practical skills check and the knowledge check.
You can take the knowledge test either in written or in an audio format.
The only available language is English.
The skills test includes the demonstration of assisting the patients, which are actually actors and you will have to showcase all key nursing skills.
Delaware offers several testing sites to the aspiring CNAs.
Also, you have three attempts to pass the test, and if you fail one part, you can retake only that block.
The examination fee is $108 or $110 if you pick an audio test.
Retaking of skills test costs $68, and retaking knowledge test costs $40 for a written test, and $50 for the audio exam.
