The examination consists of two parts – the skills and knowledge tests.

The skills demonstration includes an evaluation of your measurement skills, such as counting reservations, recording weight, etc, proper hand hygiene, and other nursing assistant skills.

You can take the knowledge test in a written or oral format, whichever is more convenient for you.

In Louisiana, there are several locations across the state where you can take the test.

If you fail the test, you are allowed another three attempts to take the test at a certain time.

Those who are unsuccessful will have to complete the training course again.

Candidates who start the official training program can ask their instructors to help them take care of all procedure steps.

Other candidates, out-of-state candidates, or military nursing assistants can find the Application for Nurse Certification form on the Health Standards Section website.

It can include a nursing school recommendation letter, past CNA certificate, out-of-state licenses, expired licenses, training instructor signature on the application form, etc.
